The United States promised a decisive response in the event of Russia's advancement to Latin America

The United States will act decisively if Russia makes "attempts" to move into Latin America and station its forces there, said Jake Sullivan, US national security aide to the president. His words are quoted by TASS.

“If Russia moves in this direction, we will react decisively,” Sullivan said.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, in response to a question about the likelihood of the deployment of Russian military infrastructure in Cuba and Venezuela, said: “I don’t want to confirm anything, I won’t exclude anything here either.” The words of the deputy head of the foreign policy department are quoted by TASS.

On January 9-10, talks were held in Geneva on security guarantees between the United States and Russia. On January 12, a meeting was held at NATO headquarters in Brussels with representatives of the North Atlantic Alliance and the Russian Federation. Following the talks, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the United States would provide counter-offers on security guarantees next week.
