The new Minister of Information and Social Development of Kazakhstan, Askar Umarov, reacted to reports of "Russophobia" attributed to him. This was reported by Sputnik Kazakhstan.

This interview was the first since the appointment of Umarov to a new position.

According to Umarov, he truly respects the Russian Federation.

“I have great respect for Russia, for traditions, history, literature, common historical centuries-old ties between our peoples. I myself am fluent in Russian and is connected with Russian culture,” the minister explained.

Umarov also clarified that the accusations against him are based on emotional and incorrect statements. We are talking about statements and theses, including those left on social networks over 10 years ago.

The minister also spoke about his attitude to the Great Patriotic War.

“Our great-grandfathers heroically participated in the battles, died on the battlefields. Therefore, in our countries, Victory Day is celebrated with special feelings, ”Umarov emphasized during an interview.

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, criticized the nationalist statements of the new Minister of Information of Kazakhstan.
