Putin informed about the results of the negotiations between Russia and the United States

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been briefed on the outcome of Russian-US talks with their allies, and Moscow is now awaiting written wording from opponents. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, RIA Novosti reports.

“The President has been informed. And we are currently waiting for written wording from our opponents. After that, there will be a final analysis,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

At the beginning of the week, a series of meetings took place between Russia, the US and NATO. The discussions concerned security guarantees offered by Moscow. On January 9-10, they were discussed in Geneva at meetings with the United States, on January 12 - during a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council, and on January 13 at the OSCE site.

The Permanent Representative of Russia to the OSCE, Alexander Lukashevich, following the meeting, stated that there was no adequate response or reaction to the proposals for security guarantees from the partners in the organization. According to him, after the first discussion of the Russia-NATO Council (NRC), representatives of the Russian Federation became convinced that it is necessary to legally consolidate the security guarantees proposed by the Foreign Ministry.

Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov, speaking about negotiations with the United States, recalled a scene from the action movie "Red Heat" with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the title role. Thus, Ryabkov commented on the statement by US First Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman that Russia “can prove” that it is not going to escalate the situation with the United States if it “returns military personnel to the barracks” or reports “what exercises are being conducted and what their purpose".
