Russia - Pushkov: US Senators Compete on Russia Sanctions

Russia (bbabo.net), - The next draft of anti-Russian sanctions in the US Senate is nothing more than PR, believes Alexei Pushkov, chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy and Interaction with the Media.

Earlier it became known that US Senator Marco Antonio Rubio presented a new draft of sanctions against the Russian leadership in the event of an escalation of the situation around Ukraine.

"They have a competition there in the US Senate - who will come up with sanctions against Russia better. It seems that they are only busy with this," Pushkov wrote in his Telegram channel.

The politician recalled that this is the third bill on sanctions against Russia.

"He is unlikely to pass, because there is already one supported by the Democrats. And Rubio is a Republican. Therefore, for him it is mainly PR and, as the Americans themselves put it, "posturing." Nothing more," the parliamentarian added.

Recall, on January 12, Democratic senators officially presented their bill, which provides for the imposition of sanctions against the first persons of Russia in the event of an aggravation of the situation around Ukraine. This initiative was made by the chairman of the US Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, Robert Menendez.
