The Russian defense industry will not survive the consequences of new US sanctions. Columnist Ruben Johnson writes about this in an article for Breaking Defense.

The author argues that if Washington imposes new restrictive measures against Moscow in the financial sector, they will prove "fatal for the Russian research and development sector," as it is in dire need of investment to develop some of its latest programs, in particular single-engine fighter Su-75.

Another difficulty that Russian military-industrial companies will face will be the restriction of the supply of Western components and technological equipment.

“The ability to address equipment wear and tear is becoming more of a challenge every month,” Johnson writes.

Earlier, US senators from the Democratic Party of the United States introduced a bill to the Senate providing for sanctions against eleven Russian banks, including the largest, in the event of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
