Russia - Antonov: Ukraine was not on the agenda of the talks between the Russian Federation and the United States in Geneva

Russia (bbabo.net), - The situation in Ukraine was not included in the agenda of the Russian-American talks held on January 10 in Geneva, but was only mentioned as a secondary topic in consultations with NATO in Brussels. Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov spoke about this in an interview with Newsweek magazine. His statement was published on the Facebook of the Russian embassy.

The main topic of the talks was how to maintain peace and stability in Europe by developing security guarantees based on draft agreements proposed by the Russian side, Antonov stressed.

He also noted that after the collapse of the USSR, the security situation in Europe deteriorated sharply. The "five waves" of NATO expansion have led to the fact that today the alliance units have come close to the Russian borders. The bloc's advance to the east is one of the main threats to Russia's national security.

Recall, on January 10, Russia and the United States held a meeting on strategic stability in Geneva. It was followed by a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council in Brussels. And on January 13, consultations were held at the OSCE site in Vienna. The focus was on the security proposals that the Russian side presented to the US and NATO in December last year.
