Russia (bbabo.net), - Work on improving the punishment for pedophiles will continue, said State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin in his Telegram channel.
The deputies will discuss the introduction of new aggravating circumstances. Those will be if violence is committed by a person: living with a child; bearing the responsibility for the maintenance, education, training and protection of the interests of a minor; carrying out labor activity in the spheres of education and upbringing of minors.
It is also proposed to suspend the statute of limitations for crimes against young children until the age of majority of the child who was the victim.
The State Duma Council will discuss these initiatives on February 7, Volodin specified. "It is important for us to protect children from violence. From those who can use their position for such crimes," the speaker stressed.
Earlier, the State Duma adopted a law on life imprisonment for recidivist pedophiles. We are talking about a life sentence for those previously convicted for violent acts against minors, as well as for committed violence against two or more children. In addition, such a punishment will be imposed if the violent actions involve the commission of another grave or especially grave crime against the personality of the child or adolescent.
