The Emirati leadership at the last moment canceled talks between Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zeid Al Nahyan and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, Yonhap reports.
According to a senior official from South Korea, the UAE authorities did not explain the reason for the cancellation of the meeting, noting only that it was a "matter of national importance."
It is noted that the announcement of the cancellation of the talks was made during a week-long visit of the South Korean leader to this Arab country.
During the meeting with Crown Prince Moon, Jae-in expected to discuss with him the prospects for developing cooperation between the two countries in various areas, including climate change, health care, national security and defense.
A day earlier, the South Korean authorities signed a preliminary agreement with the UAE for the supply of medium-range surface-to-air missiles worth $3.5 billion.
The UAE is the first stop on Moon Jae-in's Middle East tour. Next in line are Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
