The Russian Embassy reacted to the statement of the Canadian Foreign Minister about the dead soldiers of Ukraine

The Russian Embassy in Ottawa expressed bewilderment against the background of the statement by Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly about the allegedly unfolding war between Ukraine and Russia. This was reported on the website of the Russian Embassy in Canada.

According to Joly, “thousands of Ukrainian soldiers” died from the military conflict on the “eastern front”.

“With extreme bewilderment, they perceived the message on the Twitter account of Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly dated January 18 that “almost 4.5 thousand Ukrainian soldiers died in the war with Russia on the eastern front,” the Russian diplomatic mission specified.

The department believes that such wording by the Canadian cabinet is a distortion of reality. Also, such words do not contribute to efforts to stabilize the situation and resume the settlement of the intra-Ukrainian conflict in accordance with the Minsk agreements.

At the same time, the Russian embassy drew attention to the fact that the dead Ukrainian soldiers were participants in the military punitive operation in Kiev. At the same time, military operations were carried out against their own citizens in the east of the country, the department specified.

The diplomatic mission concluded that the only way to peacefully resolve the conflict is to return Kiev to a dialogue with representatives of Luhansk and Donetsk.

Earlier, Ukraine asked Canada for military assistance.
