Reuters: Russia and Ukraine do not object to Turkish mediation in negotiations

Russia and Ukraine may consider the idea of Turkey's participation in resolving the conflict between them. This is reported by Reuters, citing sources among Turkish diplomats.

“Both Russia and Ukraine are positive about Turkish mediation,” one of the agency’s interlocutors said.

Earlier, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan confirmed Ankara's desire to hold a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on its territory.

He stressed that he "attaches great importance to both Putin's visit to Turkey and (his) future visit to Ukraine." At the same time, he did not specify when the next visit of the Russian president to the republic could take place.

Before that, it became known that Turkey plans to organize negotiations between Russia and Ukraine on the Minsk agreements. They are planned to be held in Istanbul.

“Negotiations on the Minsk agreements should take place in Istanbul. The same players should participate in them as before: Russia, Ukraine, representatives from Donbass and the OSCE. The date of the talks has not yet been determined. Meetings within the framework of the negotiation process should become frequent and regular,” said a source in the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
