Official Washington has given permission to the authorities of Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia to supply Ukraine with American-made Javelin and Stinger anti-tank and anti-aircraft systems, TASS reports citing the Wall Street Journal. The re-export of these weapons required the formal consent of the United States.
"The United States has given the go-ahead to three Baltic NATO member countries to send American-made weapons to Ukraine," the WSJ article says. "The decision will allow Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia to send Javelin anti-tank systems and Stinger anti-aircraft systems to Ukrainian forces."
In addition, the United States plans to supply five Russian-made Mi-17 helicopters to Ukraine. It is specified that they were originally intended for the military of Afghanistan and were repaired in Ukraine.
