Lavrov urged the West to “adultly” think about how to live together in the modern world

Following talks with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Russian Foreign Minister criticized the thinking of the Western world.

According to the diplomat, the mentality of the West is such that he is sure that everything is possible for him, and for other countries, if only they are allowed.

As an example, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry cited Federica Mogherini, ex-head of European Union diplomacy, as an example: "when the EU is in the region, other countries have nothing to do there."

Lavrov noted that this was proved by the events in the Balkans and other regions.

“Isn’t this the policy of zones of influence? We see how these zones are still being developed, how new territories are being drawn into the sphere of influence of the West. It is sad that adults are engaged in those who are cooler, who have the most. Blinken spoke frankly about this at the meeting. This is wrong,” the Russian minister said.

He urged “adults” to think about how to live in the modern world, make it safe from the point of view of ongoing climate change, other global threats, terrorism, drug trafficking, and the health of people who are exposed to terrible dangers due to the coronavirus pandemic.

At the same time, the minister stressed that Russia does not claim zones of influence, but NATO, in turn, considers Ukraine its zone of influence and shows it.

On Friday, January 21, a meeting was held in Geneva between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

Earlier it was reported that during the talks in Geneva Lavrov and Blinken discussed Moscow's proposal to return NATO to the 1997 configuration.
