Lukashenka urged to reliably protect the border with Ukraine in case of unpredictability

The need to strengthen the borders of Belarus and protect them on the border with Ukraine was pointed out by the Supreme Commander of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, speaking on January 21 in the Brest region at a meeting on strengthening the military security of the republic.

Ten years ago, the Belarusian president stated, quoted by BelTA, “no one imagined that we would have to create military units and an entire association to protect our southern borders. With pain in our hearts, we are watching everything that is happening in Ukraine. "The current political leadership, being under external control, sometimes behaves unpredictably and inadequately. Therefore, in this case - unpredictability, inadequacy - and in the event, God forbid, military actions, we need to decide. Almost 1,500 km of the southern border of Belarus and Ukraine is Whatever the cost, we need to not only see what will happen and is happening on this border, it must be reliably protected," he stressed.

From the soul of the Ukrainian nation, the president expressed his conviction, they are tearing out the memory of the Slavic peoples, common roots, language, cultural and ethnic code that binds peoples. "Everyone is trying to destroy Ukrainians in the soul," Lukashenko said, adding bitterly that it was impossible to imagine that "several decades after the end of the Great Patriotic War, thugs with a fascist swastika would march along the central streets of Kiev and other cities."

The head of state firmly made it clear that this is unacceptable for the Belarusians. "We will never forget everything that happened on our territory. We remember Khatyn ... And who did these atrocities there. This is also one of the reasons why we are forced today to respond in the south of our country to the situation that is developing," he stated his position the Belarusian leader.

He explained in this regard that the place of the meeting was not determined by chance. Back at the end of November last year, the Minister of Defense reported to the President what was needed to protect the southern borders. “Then we agreed that we would meet here in Luninets, this, from the point of view of the military, is a very good and convenient place to discuss all the proposals that were then presented. Then I asked to finalize those proposals,” Lukashenka said.

In Belarus, he stressed, they see well what is happening in general along the country's borders. “We have a good idea of how to answer this. We need to predict the situation for the future: what will happen tomorrow and the day after tomorrow,” the president noted. “Therefore, a wise saying: if you want peace, prepare for war. Cruel, but so masculine. so that we could not be taken by surprise, and so that we could respond at the right time. I am absolutely convinced that you, people in uniform, know what needs to be done to protect our land."

The Supreme Commander-in-Chief demanded to report on the results of the revision on what needs to be done not only in Luninets, but also in Belarus as a whole in terms of the air defense system, and most importantly, on the southern borders.
