Russia - Tough restrictions to be introduced in Tuva due to rise in COVID-19 cases

Russia (bbabo.net), - The epidemiological situation in the Republic of Tyva has deteriorated sharply - a five-fold increase in the number of infected COVID-19 has been registered in a week. A new strain "omicron" has also been identified. In connection with the worsening situation, Tuva is preparing to introduce tough restrictive measures, the press service of the government of the republic said.

The chief state sanitary doctor of the region, Lyudmila Salchak, proposed a number of measures to prevent the mass spread of infection. In particular, from January 25 to February 7, schoolchildren from the first to the eighth grades and students of secondary educational institutions should be transferred to distance learning, the work of kindergartens should be suspended (leaving duty groups), cultural institutions, sports, boarding houses and rest houses, religious objects.

In addition, employees with disabilities, people over 60 years of age, as well as employees with chronic diseases are transferred to remote work until April. A number of other measures are also envisaged.

The head of the republic, Vladislav Khovalyg, announced an additional allocation of more than 43 million rubles from the reserve fund of the government of Tuva to combat the spread of coronavirus.
