Russia - Politicians, doctors, athletes will play in the performance dedicated to the lifting of the blockade

Russia (bbabo.net), - On January 27, on the Day of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the fascist blockade, Orenburg residents will show in St. Petersburg the play "Hotel Astoria" based on the play of the same name (1956) by the Soviet writer, playwright Alexander Stein./i

The action takes place during the days of the Leningrad blockade. The play and performance are dedicated to the heroic defenders of Leningrad - soldiers and civilians who did not give up their hometown to the Nazis.

“Here, in the hotel, in September 1941, by the will of the always natural and always amazing military circumstances, unexpectedly and unintentionally, the fates of different people collided - military and civilian, unfortunate and happy, strong and weak, beautiful and vile,” we read in the play.

- During the Great Patriotic War, Leningrad held the siege for 872 days, this is an incredible historical event, - says the author of the dramatization and stage director Pavel Kashtanov. - The topic of war is very dear to me in general. I was named Pavel after my paternal grandfather. As an infantryman, he died in 1942 near Velikiye Luki in an unequal battle with German tanks... One of the most important themes in the play is the roots and causes of the heroism and patriotism of our people. Where does patriotism come from, for example, among young schoolchildren?

The play was not chosen by me by chance. Being an actor of the Chelyabinsk Theater for Young Spectators, in 2005 I played the main role in this play staged by Alexander Kanevsky (pilot-ace Major Konovalov), and even then I liked this material ...

The premiere of the military drama took place in Orenburg in March last year. Non-professional actors take part in the performance dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory: representatives of the state authorities of Orenburg and the Orenburg region (for example, two vice-governors, deputies of the Legislative Assembly), businessmen, doctors, police officers, athletes, students and schoolchildren. Many took to the stage for the first time.

The organizer of the event is the Extraordinary Miracle Charitable Foundation, on whose initiative similar charitable performances have been staged in Orenburg for several years. By the way, the money collected after the premiere of "Hotel Astoria" (about 1.5 million rubles) was sent to perpetuate the memory of Hero of the Soviet Union Mikhail Devyatayev - the installation of a monument to the legendary pilot in Orenburg.

The play will be performed on the stage of the Baltiyskiy Dom Theater-Festival on January 27 twice - at 2 and 7 pm. The proceeds from ticket sales will be used to support veterans of the blockade. 700 tickets were handed over to the blockade.
