WHO announced a new anti-record for the number of cases of COVID-19 per week

More than 21.3 million people in the world have been infected with the coronavirus in a week. This is a new high for the entire time of the pandemic. The number of detected cases of infection increased by 5% compared to the previous seven days.

Such data was distributed on Wednesday night by the World Health Organization (WHO). 49,890 deaths were also registered, which is 1% more than a week earlier, TASS reports.

An increase in the number of cases of coronavirus was recorded in the Eastern Mediterranean - by 39%, Southeast Asia - by 36% and in Europe - by 13%. At the same time, in Africa and America, the incidence decreased by 31% and 10%.

In Europe, the number of infected exceeded 10 million in a week, accounting for 47% of all new cases in the world.
