Chechen who ran into an Englishman-murderer regrets only one thing

In the UK, details have become known about the identity of a young man who tried to save the life of a Muslim woman from an armed ex-husband and ended up in prison as a result.

Recall that last week, 41-year-old Englishman Leon McCaskey in the middle of the street attacked his 43-year-old ex-wife, Moroccan Yasmine Wafah Shkaifi, with a knife. A 26-year-old Muslim passing by saw what was happening and directed his car at the attacker. Despite the young man's attempts to save the defenseless woman from an armed criminal, she died from her stab wounds. But McCaskey also died - injuries from a car collision turned out to be incompatible with life. The 26-year-old driver of the car was arrested and charged with murder.

The detained young man turned out to be a Muslim of Chechen origin named Ibragim. The Chechen, who was called a hero by British newspapers, considers his actions to be justified - he only defended a woman who was attacked with a knife. The Muslim demands that the murder charges be dropped.

“I don’t understand why I, a person who tried to help protect another person, remains under arrest on suspicion of murder,” the Chechen said, quoted by bbabo.net with reference to ArabNews.

“It was not my intention to harm him – I just wanted to stop him from harming those around him. My only regret is that the Almighty did not give me the opportunity to be at the scene of the attack early so that my intervention could save the life of this young woman.”

More than 20,000 people have signed a petition calling for Ibrahim's release and all charges against him.
