The US State Department said that the conversation between Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about Washington's responses to security guarantees lasted half an hour, was frank and professional. “The Secretary of State emphasized the United States’ willingness, bilaterally and with allies and partners, to continue substantive exchanges with Russia on security-related issues of common concern, which we intend to do in full coordination with our partners and allies,” the State Department said.

Also, Blinken, in a conversation with Lavrov, recalled that all countries have the right to enter into any unions. He called on Russia to withdraw troops from the borders of Ukraine and resolve the conflict through diplomacy.

Earlier, the official representative of the US State Department, Ned Price, confirmed that Russia had received a response to the proposals sent earlier by Washington to Moscow on security and the Ukrainian problem.

On January 26, the US and NATO handed over to Russia their written responses to Moscow's proposed security guarantees. In statements, they outlined their principles in negotiations with Moscow.
