Poland: Latest presidential poll forecasts second round vote

A poll released in the final run-up to the first round of presidential elections billed for Sunday 10 May reveals that incumbent Bronisław Komorowski can count on 39 percent of the ballot, with opposition front-runner Andrzej Duda gaining 27 percent.

The result means that a second round of voting would take place on 24 May between the top two candidates. The Millward Brown poll, commissioned by broadcaster TVN, notes a three-percentage point slide in support for Komorowski, while backing for Duda remains unchanged.

Independent candidate, musician Paweł Kukiz saw the biggest hike in support in the poll, gaining four percentage points to land in with 13 percent of the ballot. The survey shows that the remaining eight candidates are far behind in the presidential race.
