El Pais: Ukraine supports US and NATO plan to reduce tensions with Russia

The Ukrainian authorities support the US and NATO plan to reduce tensions with Russia. This is reported by the Spanish El Pais.

The publication of the publication says that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said at a video conference on February 2 that the country's government does not oppose responses aimed at Russia's proposals for security guarantees.

“If this proposal is accepted on a reciprocal basis, it will mean that Russia must leave,” the Ukrainian diplomat said.

According to him, Ukraine and its partners, including the United States, have no disagreements in assessing the risks of escalation from Russia.

“The tone of our messages may sound different, but the real assessment is the same: everything is possible, and we must prepare for every possible scenario,” Kuleba stressed, adding that Kiev needs additional weapons to support “diplomatic efforts.”

According to him, the failure of the US and NATO in Ukraine will show the whole world that the West is unable to protect its fundamental principles and itself.

The day before, El Pais reported that it had received the full text of the confidential response of the United States and NATO to Russia's proposals on security guarantees.

A diplomatic source confirmed the authenticity of the published material.

In December last year, the Russian Foreign Ministry published drafts of a treaty between Russia and the United States on security guarantees and an agreement on measures to ensure the security of the Russian Federation and NATO member states.

On January 26, the US and NATO handed over to Russia their written responses to Moscow's proposed security guarantees. In statements, they outlined their principles in negotiations with Moscow.
