The Belarusian Foreign Ministry expressed a strong protest to Ukraine in connection with the illegal crossing of the Belarusian border by a Ukrainian drone, BelTA informs.
“On February 3, 2022, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Belarus Igor Kizim was summoned to the Foreign Ministry, who was strongly protested in connection with the targeted launch of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) from Ukraine to the territory of Belarus,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The press service of the Foreign Ministry clarified that on January 24, 2022, a Ukrainian drone illegally crossed the state border of Belarus, it was recorded in the country’s airspace and “subsequently forced to land.”
“Based on the analysis of on-board equipment data, it has been established for certain that it was launched from the territory of Ukraine in order to conduct illegal reconnaissance activities over the Brestsky military training ground,” the Belarusian Foreign Ministry noted.
Earlier, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus is strengthening the state border with Ukraine. According to Lukashenka, an additional contingent of armed forces was sent to this area, and also stressed that he was forced to do this, “because we are no better on the border with Ukraine than with the Poles.”
