Ukraine to expand production of Turkish drones

Kiev and Ankara have signed an agreement providing for the expansion of the production of Turkish Bayraktar drones on Ukrainian territory. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky following negotiations with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, RIA Novosti reports.

“Today, an agreement was signed that will significantly expand the production of Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicles in Ukraine,” the head of state said.

He noted that this agreement will provide new technologies, new jobs, and also increase the country's defense capability.

Earlier, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Shaptala said that Kiev was going to increase the number of Bayraktar drones.

On October 26 last year, it became known that the Ukrainian army for the first time used Turkish Bayraktar TB2 attack drones in the Donbass. In Ukraine, they said that they did not allow any violations.

Later, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the use of the Bayraktar drone in the Donbass does not indicate an offensive by Ukrainian troops on the armed forces of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics and was used "precisely to protect" the Ukrainian state.

The same was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba. According to him, Kiev acted in the interests of self-defense and did not violate anything by using a strike drone in the Donbass.
