Israel assessed the likelihood of the situation around Ukraine escalating into an armed conflict

Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said that Israel does not believe that the confrontation between Russia and Ukraine could turn into an armed conflict in the near future. This is reported by the portal Axios.

“At the moment, our assessment is that we will not see a violent confrontation in the near future. I also do not think that a world war is about to start there, ”said the head of the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

The publication notes that in the near future Lapid plans to discuss the situation around Ukraine with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. According to the head of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, he is in a rather difficult position, since Israel maintains good relations with both Russia and Ukraine.

Israel, more than any other country, has an obligation to act with caution in dealing with the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, Lapid said.

Earlier, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, said that the transfer of American troops to Europe is proof that Russia has cause for concern.
