Putin discusses Ukraine and security guarantees with Johnson

Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, during which the parties discussed the Ukrainian crisis and state security guarantees, the Kremlin press service reports.

“A fairly detailed exchange of views was held in the context of the intra-Ukrainian crisis and the situation to ensure long-term legally fixed guarantees of the security of the Russian Federation,” the message says.

During the conversation, Vladimir Putin outlined his fundamental approaches to these issues, in particular, drawing attention to "Kiev's chronic sabotage of the Minsk agreements."

The President also pointed to NATO's unwillingness to adequately respond to legitimate Russian concerns, while hiding behind references to the so-called "open door" policy of the alliance, which contradicts the fundamental principle of the indivisibility of security.

The talks between Putin and Johnson were supposed to take place on January 31, but they were postponed due to the fact that the head of the British government spoke in Parliament with a report on parties at his residence in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
