Video: Flooded village resurfaces in Spain due to drought

The village of Aceredo in the Spanish province of Galicia, flooded in 1992, has resurfaced a reservoir created 30 years ago near the Alto Lindoso dam.

It is reported that the reason for the appearance of the ghost village was a severe drought, as a result of which no more than 15 percent of its normal volume remained in the reservoir.

Local media write that crowds of tourists are already exploring the streets and dilapidated houses of Aceredo. Despite being under water for a long time, many of the buildings are perfectly preserved.

The decision to flood Aceredo and four other villages on the border of Spain and Portugal was taken as part of the construction of a hydroelectric power plant and a dam on the Lima River. About 120 people lived in Aceredo at the time of the sinking. All of them received compensation and left their homes forever.
