President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated the need to give way to young people on the way to governing the country "at a new stage" of its development. The leader's words are quoted by the TDH agency.
Berdymukhammedov stressed that two years ago he reached 63 years old - the sacred age of the prophet, and wants to discuss the "difficult decision" about himself, which he came to.
“Now for 15 years now I have been working in the highest and very responsible position of the President of Turkmenistan... I support the idea that the road to public administration at a new stage in the development of our country should be given to young leaders who were brought up in a spiritual environment and in accordance with the high requirements of modernity ", - he said at a meeting of the Halk Maslakhaty - the upper house of parliament.
Earlier, Berdimuhamedov instructed to put out a gas crater that had been burning for 50 years. It is located 266 km from the capital of Turkmenistan and attracts numerous tourists.
The President drew attention to the fact that "for many years natural gas has been burned in large quantities in the Darvaza region." He stressed that such a situation has a bad effect on the environment and the health of people from nearby settlements.
