Twitter users accused Truss of bad manners at a meeting with Lavrov

Foreign Twitter users accused British Foreign Secretary Elizabeth Truss of bad manners during negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Users commented on the video on the ASB News profile, where Truss interfered with the work of translators by starting her speech ahead of time.

“Not only does she not know which cities are in Russia and which are in Ukraine, but she also forgot her manners at home,” the user wrote. Another commenter corrected him: "this is not bad manners, but ordinary impudence."

Other users drew attention to the delicate behavior of Lavrov, who gestured to Truss for embarrassment. “I loved how politely Lavrov stopped her,” reads the user’s comment. Readers noted that the Russian minister speaks excellent English, but could not make out anything because of the “devilry” around him.

Truss also stated during negotiations with Lavrov that the Rostov and Voronezh regions do not belong to Russia.

Trass visited the Russian capital on February 10 for talks with Lavrov on the situation in Ukraine. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that relations between Moscow and London had reached their lowest point in many years. Lavrov expressed hope that the countries will be able to restore bilateral cooperation, and Liz Truss expects that the talks will help strengthen European security.
