The European Union spoke about the upcoming anti-Russian sanctions

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, informed the leaders of Western countries about the anti-Russian sanctions being developed, which will be introduced in the event of an invasion of Ukraine. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the statement of the European Union.

“Von der Leyen informed about the situation around sectoral and individual sanctions in case of future Russian military aggression against Ukraine. She confirmed that all possible options are being considered and that the sanctions will affect energy, the financial sector, as well as the export of high-tech goods,” the statement said.

Earlier, US State Department adviser Derek Chollet said the US and the EU were "pretty close" to agreeing on a package of potential sanctions aimed at deterring Russia from attacking Ukraine. He emphasized that the restrictions will be dynamic - with the possibility of addition and change.

Prior to this, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova criticized the tightening of the sanctions regime against Russia in the UK.
