Russian Foreign Ministry found unacceptable terminology in Ukrainian ultimatum

The Russian Foreign Ministry is preparing a response to the demand of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to explain in detail the actions of the Russian military near the Ukrainian border and in Crimea. It is reported by RIA Novosti, citing a source.

According to the interlocutor of the agency, the Russian Foreign Ministry called the Ukrainian request unfounded and found in it "unacceptable terminology" regarding Crimea. They noted that the movement of the Russian armed forces across its territory does not give Kiev grounds for launching the Vienna Mechanism, and saw this as a diversion of the attention of the world community from Ukrainian military activity.

Moscow will respond to Kiev "in the near future," the source concluded.

As Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said earlier, Russia has 48 hours to prepare a response. He noted that if Kiev does not receive clarifications, or the information provided by Moscow turns out to be insufficient or inappropriate, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry will appeal to the countries participating in the Vienna Document to convene an emergency meeting.
