The State of Qatar welcomed the Vatican State’s decision in recognition of the State of Palestine. A state issued by the Qatari Foreign Ministry said the State of Qatar appreciates this positive step aimed to end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and the creation of an independent State of Palestine on the 1967 boundaries with its capital in the holy city of al-Quds.

The statement added that with this recognition, the number of countries that recognised the State of Palestine becomes 136 countries around the globe and which support the two-states solution, and this is a message to the international community to translate its supportive stances and words into deeds. Qatar also expressed its hope that this will contribute to supporting peace efforts and legitimate rights.
