Senators accuse the CIA of secretly spying on the Americans

Two US senators have said that the CIA is secretly gathering information about American citizens, bypassing Congress. It is reported by Bloomberg.

According to the agency, the allegations are contained in a letter from Senators Ron Wyden of Oregon and Martin Heinrich of New Mexico to Director of National Intelligence Avril Haynes and CIA Director William Burns.

In response, the CIA said that the collection of information was carried out as part of the counterterrorism programs approved by US Presidential Executive Order No. 12333.

Part of the reports on the analysis of this data from 2015 to 2021 were declassified, but it was not indicated how long the surveillance was conducted and what information was collected during it.

Earlier, the head of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), Leonid Pasechnik, said that the CIA was training organizers of the partisan movement for Ukraine.

According to him, the CIA organizes the training of Ukrainians at American military bases, and then returns them to Ukraine with new skills in organizing the underground, maintaining secrecy, recruiting, conducting sabotage operations, and using non-military means as weapons.
