If the visit of the British defense and foreign ministers to Russia is aimed at improving relations, then Moscow is ready to reciprocate, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a meeting with British counterpart Elizabeth Truss. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“If this is really the task of our British colleagues, then we, of course, will reciprocate, because we cannot be satisfied with relations that are probably at the lowest point in recent years,” the head of the foreign ministry said.

He also stressed that relations can only be improved through an equal and mutually respectful dialogue between the parties.

The UK government has said earlier that the UK is ready to work on diplomatic progress with Russia.
