The Russian Ambassador advised French diplomats to take a closer look at the story with DW

Russian Ambassador to Paris Alexei Meshkov said that the French partners should take a closer look at the history of the German television channel Deutsche Welle, sanctions against the media are not Russia's way, but in some cases there is a limit. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“This issue has always been on our agenda. Vladimir Vladimirovich (Putin) talked on this subject with (Emmanuel) Macron. This is a constant theme in the dialogue between Sergei Viktorovich Lavrov and his colleague (Jean-Yves) Le Drian,” Meshkov said.

He stressed that several years earlier, during his visit to France, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov refused to go to a press conference until Russian journalists were allowed into the hall.

The diplomat also noted that discrimination against Russian media in France is completely unacceptable.

“I would advise our French colleagues to take a closer look at the history with Deutsche Welle. Maybe it will affect their mental process,” Meshkov added.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation announced that retaliatory measures would be taken to ban the broadcasting of the RT DE TV channel in Germany. In particular, we are talking about the closure of the correspondent office of the German television and radio company Deutsche Welle in Russia.
