Britain to alert additional troops 'in the event of a humanitarian crisis' in the east

The UK will put another 1,000 troops on standby to support NATO and alliance allies on the eastern flank "in the event of a humanitarian crisis." It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the British government.

"The Prime Minister announces that an additional 1,000 British troops will be put on standby to support NATO and allies in the event of a humanitarian crisis," the government said.

At the same time, an increase in the British military contingent in Poland by 350 people was announced earlier. The 45th Special Forces Battalion is already there, and the Royal Wales Battle Group will arrive in Estonia in the coming weeks. The military units are expected to "help Poland and other Eastern European countries cope with the consequences of any Russian aggression."

The British military will be involved in joint exercises and training. Armed troops should support this action "if necessary".

There are already 250 British troops in Poland, 150 of whom are part of the NATO security forces, and 100 of them are engineers helping Warsaw to strengthen the border with Belarus.

In addition, on February 8 and 9, a cargo with military-technical assistance arrived in Ukraine from the UK. We are talking about military goods and equipment for the territorial defense forces of the armed forces of Ukraine: body armor, helmets, etc.
