Macron commented on his dialogue with Putin

French President Emmanuel Macron, after a visit to Moscow and Kiev, wrote on his Instagram that he had a "lively and meaningful" dialogue with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

“In Moscow, President Putin and I had a lively, meaningful exchange of views. Our duty is to work together to maintain stability, peace and restore the mechanisms of trust. We are both convinced of this. There is no reasonable solution without dialogue. It must continue in order to resume the process of de-escalation, to obtain security guarantees on the borders of our Europe," the French president emphasized.

According to him, negotiations should be conducted with France, in the Normandy format, in Europe, with the United States of America and with NATO.

Macron also noted that neither Russia nor Europe are interested in disorder and instability.

On February 7, the French president arrived in Moscow, where he held five-hour talks with Putin. According to the British Daily Mail, Macron made several proposals to the Russian leader during the meeting, which were not agreed upon with NATO and the United States. In particular, to secure a neutral status for Ukraine, thereby excluding the possibility for it to join the North Atlantic Alliance.

After the talks, Macron stressed the importance of a "demanding" dialogue with Russia.
