The former first deputy commander of the Special Operations Forces, General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Krivonos, said that the Russian military is capable of organizing a lightning-fast capture of Kiev without invading Ukraine to the last, RIA Novosti reports.
He noted that the Russian servicemen have honed their skills in the transfer of troops, and they are also aware of the number of airfields around Kiev, where they can land advanced detachments and land military transport aircraft. It is from these airfields, the general of the Armed Forces of Ukraine believes, that the "intensification of efforts" for Russia's "offensive" in Ukraine will begin.
“Look how quickly they transferred their forward echelon, as far as Kazakhstan was concerned. Almost perfect as the military they did great. They train it, they know their maneuvers,” Krivonos said.
He stressed that the distance from the border to Kiev can be overcome at a minimum altitude in 40 minutes, and Ukrainian air defense will not be able to track Russian aircraft, while other units will disable anti-aircraft missile systems around the capital.
“In fact, it’s not so difficult to do, and there are trained people - don’t underestimate the enemy in a war,” the general said.
