Russia - Residents of the Arctic zone have chosen projects in the field of tourism

Russia (bbabo.net), - According to the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, 310 companies and individual entrepreneurs have become residents of the Arctic zone in 1.2 years. The cost of the projects they are implementing exceeds 367 billion rubles. 23 enterprises have started operations.

Businesses from the Murmansk region are the most active in applying, Arkhangelsk is in second place, followed by Karelia and Yamal. So, in YNAO, 153 entrepreneurs are now applying for the status of a resident. This implies preferences for 10 years: reduced insurance premiums for new jobs, priority land acquisition, subsidized loan rates, and preferential taxation.

Residents of the Arctic zone represent the service sector, logistics, real estate, mining, food and beverage production, and agriculture. But tourism turned out to be the most popular direction: 68 projects are being implemented in this industry.

One of them is at the confluence of the Tipanovka River into the Barents Sea. A tourist fishing village for 30-35 guests will be built here, where you can go in for sports fishing. According to the director of the investor company Dmitry Kuznetsov, if the infrastructure for river fishing in Russia is developed, then for the sea it is almost not, meanwhile, during the pandemic, the demand for such recreation has grown. They want to put the object worth 150 million rubles into operation within 3-5 years, while they promise to organically fit the cottages into the ecosystem so as not to upset the balance.

A similar position is held by another resident of the Arctic, who built a restaurant with a bar and a bistro at a ski resort in Khibiny. The unusual building is already hosting guests on one of the slopes of Mount Aikuaivenchorr at an altitude of 820 meters above sea level. Tourists admire the beauty from the panoramic hall. This project cost almost 359 million rubles.

No less grandiose plans are being built in Chukotka, although they still look more like fantasy: an airbridge with a length of 7.6 thousand meters will connect the city of Anadyr and the village of Coal Mines across the estuary. About 60 thousand people move back and forth every year: in winter - on the ice crossing, in the off-season - by helicopters and hovercraft. The funicular will allow passengers and goods to be transported all year round. A lot of money is required - 3.8 billion rubles, but if the project is implemented, it will undoubtedly become a point of attraction for tourists.

The ski season in Yamal lasts until June, when more southern resorts are already closed

Big business is also ready to invest in recreation in the Arctic. So, "Norilsk Nickel" is going to develop two tourist projects at once: "Valla-Tunturi" on the Kola Peninsula and "Zatundra" on Taimyr. Objects will also be built, preserving the pristine nature as much as possible, moreover, from eco-materials and on "clean" energy sources.

They rely on tourism and the authorities of Yamal. On December 24, 2021, the first stage of accepting applications for the right to conclude a 30-year concession and build a ski resort on the Rai-Iz massif ended. Within 3.5 years, the investor must create at least 12 kilometers of slopes of varying difficulty, two overhead lifts, a service center with a ski school and a rental office. As well as two hotels 3 and 4 "stars" for a total of 300 beds and food outlets. In addition, open apres-ski-leisure facilities (literally - after the slopes are closed).

This is not only the first investment project in Russia in the tourism sector on a concession basis, but also part of a new industry cluster in the Polar Urals, which is included in the strategy for the development of the Russian Arctic zone until 2035. As expected, by 2025 the flow of tourists will exceed 80 thousand people. More than half will be residents of the peninsula, but they will also come from other regions, because the ski season in Yamal lasts until June, when the more southern resorts are already closed. Only three hours by plane from Moscow or St. Petersburg, and you see the northern lights, plagues, unusual nature: in addition to skiing, the cluster will include the recreational base Harbeyskaya, the ethno camp, the Arktorium museum, the Arctic zoo, Bolshoye Shchuchye and Khadataeganlor lakes. As well as the projected international scientific station "Snezhinka" in the Jade Valley, the first fully autonomous hydrogen-powered station.

The total investment is estimated at 20 billion rubles, of which seven will be invested by the region, the rest by business. When asked how many applicants applied for the concession and whether they will receive the status of residents of the Arctic zone, the press secretary of the Governor of Yamal asked to wait until March-April, when the concepts will be presented. Then we can talk about support measures. But Gazprombank did not hide its participation in the competition. The documents were submitted by a consortium, which also includes Azimut Hotels Company and STK Sheregesh Management Company, the press service of the financial organization reports. The general contractor will be OK Sibshakhtostroy, which built facilities in the Sheregesh resort in Altai. It should be noted that the bank already has experience in co-financing infrastructure projects in Yamal - a highway and a bridge across the Pur River, an airport in Novy Urengoy, but this is the first initiative in the tourism sector.

- The ski infrastructure requires significant investments, for which the concession participants and the region are ready. The number of jobs (over 1,700 at the construction stage and the same number during operation. - Ed.), which we will create, will help the development of nearby settlements. At the same time, we intend to pay great attention to the preservation of the unique local nature, - says Pavel Brusser, First Vice President of Gazprombank, Head of the Infrastructure Projects and PPP Department.

According to Alexei Chekunkov, Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, although the region's economy is based on such powerful pillars as subsoil use and transport logistics, it still has enormous potential for tourism development.

- Yamal provides over 80 percent of gas exports, the entire Arctic - more than 20 percent of national income. Under such conditions, tourism will not become a comparable item, but it can reach 10-20 percent of household income in the next five years, he said during a business breakfast in.
