Russian TV channels will be watched in Poland

Viewers of Polish cable TV will be able to watch Russian TV channels.

One of the distributors of cable TV channels in Poland, Pasjatv, will offer consumers 11 TV channels in Russian, including Karusel, Dom Kino, Pobeda. The offer is addressed primarily to those who study Russian and are interested in Soviet and Russian culture, history, economic and political life. The head of Pasjatv, Barbara Guzniczak, explained in an interview with Wirtualnemedia.pl: "Many people love Russian cinema. I remember how the War and Peace channel (which existed from 2006 to 2013, a channel that showed Soviet and Russian full-length films, - Ed.). People adore Russian cartoons. We must not forget that many people were brought up on them. In addition, Russian music - melodic, not like American hits - will find many fans with us." In her opinion, this television is very different from the Polish one, and "will become a kind of invitation to get acquainted with the world of Russia, a very powerful country with amazing culture and cinematography."

Neither the anti-Russian propaganda that has become commonplace in Poland, nor the fact that the programs of Polish TV channels mainly show Hollywood films can affect the special interest of Poles in Russian cinema. According to the news portal Onet, half of Poles understand Russian, and ten percent speak it fluently. For 15 years now, the Sputnik over Poland film festival has been held, within the framework of which residents of different cities of the country, somewhere in cinemas, and somewhere online, watch new Russian films and choose the best of them. Released on Polish screens in 2020, the Russian-Ukrainian series "While the village sleeps" breaks popularity records on local television, leaving behind Polish series that were previously broadcast at the same evening. Well, the most popular book of the 20th century in Poland was the novel by Mikhail Bulgakov "The Master and Margarita".
