Azamat Batyrbayev, who is suspected of being behind the wheel of a car that demolished a monument to Nursultan Nazarbayev in early January during a rally on the square of the city of Taldy-Korgan.

According to Azamat Batyrbaev himself, in an extract from his medical record, on January 10 he was taken away from his home by the police for participating in the rally. In the department of the Department of Internal Affairs, he was severely beaten with truncheons and burned his back in several places with a red-hot iron.

According to an extract from the medical record, traces of thermal burns were recorded on Batyrbaev's body - on the back, right lower back and buttocks. And also: hematoma, bruised and lacerated wounds, extensive bruising of the shoulder areas, back, lumbar region, anterior muscle tear.

With a concussion, Azmat Batyrbaev was transferred from the traumatology department of the regional hospitaldy-Korgan to a pre-trial detention center. Countrymen ask to let the man go home for treatment, saying that an iron monument is no more expensive than the tears of his five children and relatives. Human rights activists say that the monument to Nazarbayev was erected during the period of his "personality cult", and now people who took part in its demolition should not be severely punished, much less tortured with racketeering methods.

Earlier, the media of Kazakhstan reported that a criminal case had been opened for the destruction of the monument against a young man named Azamat Kilybaev. In total, 17 people are being held in a pre-trial detention center on a similar charge.
