Poland prepares to accept Ukrainian refugees

Poland is preparing for a massive influx of refugees from Ukraine in case of war. This was announced on the air of Polish Radio by the head of the National Security Bureau of Poland, Pavel Solokh.

“Of course, these options are taken into account by our authorities. The President consults on these issues with the government, the Cabinet of Ministers is preparing related actions. We must take into account this option of a massive influx [of refugees]," Solokh said.

According to him, at least a million citizens of Ukraine are permanently in Poland.

“Of course, some of the citizens of Ukraine, if they decided to leave their country, would look for contacts among the Ukrainian diaspora on the territory of Poland. Here, special efforts would be needed on the part of the Polish state, and we are preparing for such an option, ”said Solokh.

Earlier, former Polish Foreign Minister Radoslav Sikorski criticized Germany for refusing to supply weapons to Ukraine and demanded that the German side change its position and restore "shaken confidence."

The story of a possible “Russian invasion” of Ukraine has been actively promoted in the West since mid-autumn last year. The U.S. has consistently pointed to a supposed increase in Russian forces near the Ukrainian border, threatening Moscow with new sanctions if it escalates. At the same time, the Kremlin has more than once directly denied any plans to attack Ukraine, on the contrary, pointing to the possible preparation of a military operation in the Donbass by Kiev.
