A ban was introduced to prevent shortages

Kyrgyzstan offered India and the Central Asian republics to jointly produce vaccines, including drugs against COVID-19. The leadership of the Kyrgyz Republic announced this opportunity at an online summit dedicated to international cooperation between the countries of the region.

According to President Sadyr Japarov, India has significant potential in the pharmaceutical industry. The countries of Central Asia, he believes, could join forces with this state in order to launch the production of affordable and effective vaccines, as well as other medicines.

“We have the opportunity to jointly promote the idea of fair access to medicines and know-how,” the head of Kyrgyzstan stressed.

The government of the republic, meanwhile, introduced a temporary ban on the export of medicines from the country. According to official sources, the decision is connected with the desire to prevent a shortage of medical devices and drugs during a difficult epidemiological situation. The ban will be in effect for the next six months.
