Russia - In Buryatia and Transbaikalia, Sagaalgan will be celebrated according to covid rules

Russia (bbabo.net), - Sagaalgan, the White Month or New Year according to the lunar calendar, came on February 2 for Buddhists. The holiday is especially actively celebrated in the Republic of Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory. The heads of the regions congratulated fellow countrymen on its coming.

- Dear countrymen, I congratulate everyone, every family on the holiday of the White Month. I wish you health, peace, tranquility, well-being and prosperity, - wished the Governor of Transbaikalia Alexander Osipov.

- Sagaalgan marks renewal - the beginning of a new year and a new stage in our lives. We begin it with bright prayers for all living, we wave our chii-morin, which raises our desires and thoughts to heaven. This year's patron is the blue water tiger, which symbolizes energy and aspiration. And our republic, on the threshold of its century, is moving forward under the motto of these qualities, - said the head of Buryatia Alexei Tsydenov.

Taking the opportunity, he spoke about the sports achievements of the inhabitants of the republic, the development of culture, stressed the importance of the implementation of national projects.

Both leaders of the regions also addressed the residents in the national language.

The traditions of celebrating Sagaalgan in recent years have to be transformed under the conditions of the pandemic. This time, due to the difficult epidemiological situation, doctors also recommended, despite the fact that it is customary to visit the elders in the first days of the new year, to refrain from such visits and not endanger the elderly.

The Chita datsan, in order to protect people, decided to hold prayers in honor of Sagaalgan live on Instagram.

- We ask parishioners to refrain from attending prayer services. All offerings can be made from home, the press service of the datsan said.

The idea was also supported in other datsans.

In addition, due to the increase in the number of cases of COVID-19, traditional mass events dedicated to the White Month were canceled.
