The US does not plan to send its troops to Ukraine

The United States is not considering using its military forces in Ukraine unilaterally in the event of potential Russian aggression. This was stated by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki during a briefing.

The White House spokesman was asked to clarify whether Washington could use military force to support Kiev in the event of potential Russian aggression against Ukraine, which is not covered by NATO's collective defense obligation.

“No,” Psaki replied.

The day before, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said that the US Department of Defense does not yet have any announcements regarding the transfer of American troops to Europe due to the situation around Ukraine. The representative of the American defense department declined to name the countries to which the United States troops could be sent in the future, but stressed that the United States "is in close consultation with them," and promised that if the decision to transfer American military personnel is eventually made, the Pentagon will "as transparent as it gets."

At the same time, on January 29, US President Joe Biden announced that US troops would soon be deployed to Eastern Europe and NATO countries.
