Russia - Bus passengers most often injured in the Smolensk region

Russia (bbabo.net), - Most often, passengers of city and suburban buses, as well as fixed-route taxis, received certain injuries in the Smolensk and Novosibirsk regions, as well as in St. Petersburg. AlfaStrakhovanie experts analyzed the company's payments under the carrier's compulsory civil liability insurance from 2019 to 2021.

Recall public transport is insured for this type. At the same time, not only those passengers who were injured as a result of an accident, but also those who were injured, for example, on a bus without any accident, can apply for payment. Falling on a bus does not count as an accident. However, most of the injuries passengers receive as a result of such a nuisance.

The most common reason for affected passengers to apply for payments was minor bodily injuries, including soft tissue bruises and brain concussions of varying degrees. Next come fractures of the legs or arms. In third place - severe injuries. For example, a hip fracture.

Most of the passengers received minor and moderate injuries due to a fall in the cabin of public transport, caused by the sudden braking of the driver in an attempt to avoid an accident. If it was not possible to escape from the collision, then the severity of the injuries increased in direct proportion to the severity of the accident.

In total, over three years, as a result of minor injuries, the victims received compensation for a total amount of more than 7.5 million rubles, due to damage to health of a medium degree - 47.6 million, and as a result of causing serious harm to health - more than 34.4 million. In addition, during this period, 22 million rubles were paid as a result of deaths due to road accidents involving public transport.

The highest number of payments during this time fell on the share of the Smolensk region - 15.3% of cases. St. Petersburg is in second place with 13.4% of payments. The Novosibirsk region accounted for 10.5% of cases. Fourth place was shared by two subjects at once - Moscow and Stavropol Territory - 9.5% each. The Chelyabinsk region closes the top five with 6.0%. The top ten also included the Penza Region (5.9%), the Voronezh Region (4.3%), the Altai Territory (2.7%) and the Sakhalin Region (2.5%).

- Since 2013, a law has been in force in Russia, according to which all victims of public transport are entitled to insurance payments in case of harm to their life, health and property. To be insured, it is enough for a passenger to buy and keep a ticket for travel. In the event of an accident, each victim receives a fixed amount for a specific injury. At the same time, the amount of payments depends on the type of injuries and their severity, - says Ekaterina Tarabueva, head of the insurance payments department for transport and marine risks of the company.

The amount of payments to victims is calculated in accordance with the table of payments approved by the government. The maximum limit for life and health is set at 2 million rubles. The cost of each injury is determined as a percentage of this limit.

The injured passenger is paid a fixed amount for a specific injury, and no proof of actual medical expenses is required. For example, for a hip fracture, a payment of 80-300 thousand rubles is due, for fractures of limbs - from 60 to 300 thousand, depending on the location of the fracture and the severity of the injury, while minimal injuries - bruises or abrasions - are estimated at 1 thousand rubles. For several injuries, payments are summed up within 2 million rubles.

Recall that in OSAGO payments are also considered, but there is only 500 thousand rubles. This means that each injury will be four times cheaper.

If the bus got into an accident, then its passenger must apply for the payment under OSGOP, and not under OSAGO. If the bus ran into a person crossing the road, then he can claim payment only within the limits of OSAGO.
