Stanislav Gadzhimagomedov, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces, said that the collective West is pushing Ukraine towards a forceful scenario of establishing control over the republics of Donbass and over Crimea. “The West continues to form a state hostile to our country out of Ukraine ... creating a springboard for the deployment of NATO troops on its territory,” Gadzhimagomedov said during a round table in the Federation Council.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Western countries are trying to persuade Ukraine to direct provocations against Russia.

“It is enough to look at the conduct of increasingly provocative military maneuvers near our borders, at drawing the Kiev regime into the NATO orbit, supplying it with lethal weapons and pushing it to carry out direct provocations against the Russian Federation,” the Russian Foreign Minister said.
