The Kremlin confirmed the preparation of the meeting between Putin and Lukashenko

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov confirmed the preparation of a meeting between the head of Russia Vladimir Putin and the head of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

“Such a meeting is being prepared. We expect it to take place by the end of the week,” he said at a briefing.

When asked by journalists about whether the presidents plan to discuss the schedule for the introduction of the Russian armed forces into the territory of Belarus, Peskov advised "not to get ahead of ourselves."

“Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's wait for the meeting. We hope that the two presidents will make statements on the outcome of their talks,” he replied.

Earlier, Lukashenko said that he would soon have a meeting with Putin.

On February 12, the presidents held telephone conversations. The parties discussed the response of the US and NATO to Russian proposals on security guarantees, as well as issues of further development of cooperation between the countries.

The last time Putin and Lukashenko met was on December 29 last year. Then the topics of the union state, joint military exercises were raised, and the results of the summit of CIS leaders were summed up.
