Russia - The Uralsky Rabochiy newspaper, one of the oldest in Russia, is 115 years old

Russia (bbabo.net), - February 14, 2022, one of the oldest newspapers in Russia - "Uralsky Rabochiy" - celebrates 115 years since the publication of the first issue.

The authority of the workers' newspaper was so great that the poet Vladimir Mayakovsky, People's Commissar of Education Anatoly Lunacharsky were considered an honor to cooperate with it, and Arkady Gaidar and Pavel Bazhov were listed as staff correspondents. The famous tales of Bazhov first saw the light on newspaper pages, and only then did he collect them in the "Malachite Box". The newspaper had its bureaus abroad. In Paris, for example, the well-known writer Henri Barbusse worked as a correspondent for the Ural Worker.

The international activities of the publication were followed not only by readers from the Urals, but also by subscribers from the NKVD. In 1937, they uncovered a "criminal gang of enemies of the people" in the editorial office. Editor Alexander Zhukhovitsky was shot, many journalists were repressed.

But the newspaper continued to live. She survived both the war and developed socialism. And has survived to this day.

By the significant date, 26 journalists from different cities and towns of Russia, who went through the school of this publication, released a collective collection of memoirs and historical chronicles. The authors spoke "about themselves", as well as about those who "with a watering can" and a notebook "were there, who, having once crossed the threshold of the editorial office, forever remained faithful to the profession and the newspaper.
