Ukraine received military assistance from Lithuania

Lithuania has delivered Stinger man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) and other military equipment to Ukraine. The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov wrote about this Facebook.

He expressed his gratitude to Vilnius for the help.

“Ukrainian-Lithuanian relations are very close and have been going on for many centuries. I appreciate our centuries-old friendship and strong support of each other!” the minister said.

Earlier it was reported that the US authorities gave permission to such Baltic NATO member countries as Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to supply American-made anti-tank and anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine.

To re-export Javelin anti-tank systems and Stinger anti-aircraft systems, these three states needed the sanction of the United States as a manufacturer and supplier of weapons.

The Ukrainian authorities are actively purchasing decommissioned foreign weapons, as well as receiving military assistance from Western countries. NATO has been sending military instructors to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine for several years. On February 6, The Mirror reported that more than 100 British special forces were sent to Ukraine to train the Ukrainian military. Recently, Canada and Latvia also sent their soldiers there, and earlier it was reported about the presence of military personnel from the United States, Lithuania and other states in the country. The United States and NATO sent several shipments of weapons to Ukraine - 80 tons of military cargo, including 300 Javelin anti-tank missile systems.
