Lithuania called for expanding Ukraine's partnership with the EU

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, during a telephone conversation with the President of the European Council Charles Michel and the leaders of European states, said that the European Union needs to reveal to Ukraine "concrete European prospects."

The leaders of Bulgaria, Latvia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Sweden and Estonia also took part in the conversation.

“The pressure that is being exerted on Ukraine these days is at the same time a challenge to the West. Only by joint efforts can we prevent aggression and maintain hope for peace. Support for Ukraine and its population from the international community, and especially the European Union, is extremely important,” Nauseda said.

According to him, support for Kiev should not only be in words, but also in more concrete and long-term actions.

“An adequate response would be to expand the partnership between the EU and Ukraine and provide Ukraine with a more concrete European perspective. Lithuania is ready to provide Ukraine with all possible assistance,” the press service of the President of Lithuania reports.

Earlier, Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte said that the republic plans to increase the number of military instructors in Ukraine and transfer Stinger anti-aircraft missiles to Kiev.
