Political scientist Rahr: Germany needs to agree with Russia on increasing gas supplies

Germany needs to negotiate with Russia to increase gas supplies. This opinion was expressed in his Twitter by the German political scientist Alexander Rahr.

He recalled Germany's plans in 2022 to completely abandon nuclear energy and gradually from coal, noting that capacities should be increased through gas, including gas-fired power plants, which will also be converted to hydrogen.

Rahr considers possible agreements with Moscow to be an important condition for a successful energy transition. The political scientist stressed that Russia remains the main supplier of gas and it is necessary to negotiate with it, writes RIA Novosti.

Earlier this week, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Economy F expressed concern about the low levels of gas in the country's storage facilities. According to her, at the moment this volume is 35-36 percent. "Gas is supplied to us primarily through pipelines, here contracts are being implemented. We are monitoring the situation with gas storage facilities, and, of course, it causes concern," the official noted. At the same time, the decision to increase gas supplies "is a market question" and does not depend on the state.
